new member, what guides do i download? was created by sarahcpascoe@aol.com
hi, new member here (like 10 minutes ago new member! lol), i'm just looking for advice on the guides that would be of best use for me? i'm already on ESA (support group) and have to send back the reassessment form soon, and i'm newly applying for PIP.

i've just recently, in the last year, been diagnosed with ME, and i'm having real difficulty putting into words how this affects me. (not to mention the fact i can't think straight most days! so filling all these forms in feels like climbing mount Everest at the minute!)
is there anyone else who's faced this problem? or can offer advise on how to explain ME to assessors? this is the first time i'm having to do this.

(please excuse any writing mistakes i might make. i can't read very well when i'm having a complete relapse, and words don't make any sense to me, so i'm relying on microsoft word in getting this right, and then copy and pasting it over!)

thank you for any help in advance

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Start by reading our PIP Claim guide on the following link

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

Unless there are things that you cannot specifically do, you are going to have to make use of the reliability terms and "on the majority of days" to help explain your limitations.

One thing you might want to do is to make a list of the problems you have completing each of the PIP activities, look for commonalties, as an example; poor grip would be something that might effect your abilities to complete the Preparing Food activity, dressing and undressing and washing and bathing.

Specifically for ME try to explain how you problems need to be considered across a ranger of days, that what you did yesterday will effect what you can do today and what you do today will limit what you can do tomorrow,
.
If you have any questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

thank you so much for the reply. of course i completely forgot about my question here so has taken me days to come back!

added on question; i have had a neck injury, and pain, for 14 years. i was already on esa for this when i was diagnosed with ME(although is is thought my ME started as a teen). because i've had it for so long, and literally done everything i can for it, twice! i don't go to the drs monthly anymore. (it was made clear to me i was wasting everyone's time when i was doing this :( )
will this be held against me?
tbh im still not sure i'm entitled to PIP, its only because my ME dr said i was that i even felt confident applying. so i start doubting things, and looking at what will be held against me.
