ESA assessment was created by Thosabine
Hi, I was previously on dla higher rate indefinitely but have since been transferred to ESA. It's not been an easy experience, I was turned down after the first assessment with atos, I then won the appeal but my rate was subsequently lowered even though nothing's changed. I have since had a second assessment and last year was put in a support group until Nov 2018. Today I received another letter asking me to attend yet another one, I understood that being in the support group meant you don't have to attend assessments. Am I wrong in thinking this? If I am indeed correct could you tell me what I should do. My assessment is over an hours drive away and anyone who has chronic back problems knows sitting in a car for that long is agonising.

Hope you can help

Kind regards
Thosabine

I think you may be confused about what happened with your DLA claim :)

Let ne answer your specific question first. being in the Support Group does not exempt you from having to attend ESA assessments!

If the appointment you have received would cause you problems to attend then you can request that it is moved to a more convenient location, if this is possible, but be aware having done this then you must attend this new appointment, or you risk your claim being closed.

DLA claimants aren't being moved to ESA, they are being move to PIP! When you last posted, about a year ago, you were being assessed for PIP, how did that go?
