Typed answers to questions on DWP forms?

Hello,

So I've got a PIP.1043/AR1 PIP form to fill in, and after reading the B&W guide, I'm taking the advice to send detailed answers, even to questions where I'm just ticking "no change".

Problem is, is that as the answer boxes are smaller, I can't fit even half of what I want to say in the boxes.

The solution I'm considering is submitting typed answers to all the questions, stapled to the back of the form, with just a "Please see answer XX in the attached sheets" for each form entry.

Also, as I have a condition that actually affects my hand muscles, typing is actually easier than writing, so it's something I've been considering for a while for all DWP forms. I also end up making lots of mistakes and it's all very messy on my written forms.

I'm assuming this would be allowed and the answers I gave couldn't be discounted because they're not physically on the form?

My other concern is how it might be perceived and whether it might count against me? Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

It is perfectly OK for you to type your answers and attach them as extra pages to the AR1, just make sure that each page has your full name and NIN at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing. Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X.

Attach the pages to the back of the AR1 using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.

If you are concerned about how your doing this might be perceived, include a short note explaining your limitations and why it was easier for you to type the answers than write them by hand.

Thanks Gordon.

Yes, I figured it would be a good idea to include an explanation.

Thanks, I'll do all those things.
