MOD NEXT ON - FRIDAY 2PM was created by unac
can someone please steer me in the right direction. i have received my pip award and its gone down from high rate dla living allowance to standard rate and have lost my high rate mobility allowance completely. the assessor came to my home but gave me nothing for planning and following a journey even though i and my mum both told her that i always needed someone with me when i go out in my car and i also only received 4 points for moving around even though she did not ask me to walk and was told that i used a walking stick at all times but at the moment i have to use a crutch as i broke my ankle last year and still need the crutch. for managing my treatments i got 0 even though she was told that my husband or mum took care of all my meds as i have suicidal tendancies and i did have these on the day i was assesses.i also received 0 for communicating, mixing with people and making budgeting decisions. she was told i dont go out except to my mums or my sisters as i cant engage socially with other people and my husband manages all monies. can someone please help as im totally gutted.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I have had to move your post to it's own topic as you have replied to an informational post in the forum!!!

OK, first of all ignore the DLA HRC award, it is awarded for fundamentally different reasons than PIP Daily Living, to receive the Enhanced award you need to show that you should score the 12 points needed.

Taking your post as posted.

To score higher for Going Out you will need to show that cannot undertake any journey, going out in your car, accompanied or not argues against this requirement.

The moving Around activity looks at the distance you can walk so you need to concentrate on this.

Your problems with medication would have only scored you one point, I'm not saying to ignore it, but it is unlikely to help you get a higher award.

The Communicating activity is about the claimant physically being able to communicate and understand what is being communicated, so you will not score for this due to problems mixing with others.

Why do you have problems socialising?

You say your husband manages all money, why are you unable to?

The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
