PIP Taking Nutrition Descriptor was created by Vicky Mould
Hello folks, and thank you for enabling me to post here. I am just wondering if you could provide some further information about scoring points for the 'Taking nutrition' descriptor.

On the PIP claim I fully described the problems I have after eating, which include very specific allergy-type reactions. However, eating is just one of many triggers for these reactions, which was also explained on my PIP form, and are currently under investigation.

What I cannot grasp is where I might 'fit' in terms of scoring points, and it may well be that I don't, even though I believe I should.

Minimal points relate to needing an aid or appliance to eat - which I don't need, and higher points relate to feeding tubes - which I don't need. However, I do have days in the month where my appetite is extremely poor due to an exacerbation of all my symptoms.

At the moment I am following a very specific diet (advised by my Consultant Immunologist and Allergy Dietitcian), and I am trialling one new drug. I have also trialled another drug which can only be prescribed 2 weeks at a time, and my Consultant will deal with this when I see him next.

On the one hand, it seems unlikely that I can score points for this descriptor because I don't seem to fit in the points category. On the other hand, the PIP claim tells you to talk about problems before and after eating, and the 'after eating' does relate to me.

I guess I am asking if you know whether there is a possibility to score points here, and how I can best evidence that?

Thank you for your time and attention in this.

All best wishes, Vicky

You need to bring your conditions to the Descriptors rather than the other way around, so do you need supervision while eating in case you have an allergic reaction, if your allergies to food are wide and it is difficult for you to avoid eating things that would cause a reaction then could you claim that you need an aid, your allergy treatment, in order to eat (I think this is a stretch, but you lose nothing by making the argument).
