Letter has arrived for son . moved from support group to wrag. Despite being severely sight impaired and struggles daily as short term memory is shot after stroke when removing brain tumour. Yet pip assessment in December last year. Home visit reduced his care to standard and mobility remained unchanged. Full dissuasion letter not arrived. But appointment for next month at the job centre for wra meetung... Knew the ESA app did not go well, as female doctor constantly tried to dismiss all written with complicated probing questions. We not allow me to speek despite stating clearly on firm that I may need to. How does this affect his pip. Guess I'm going to have to send for report and request a mandatory reconsideration. The stress is killing me. My son certainly would not be capable of doing do.

I would not expect it to effect his PIP, the criteria are sufficiently different that there should be no knock on effect.

Do you know how he qualified for the Support Group last time?

He was fighting for his life in IUC in a coma for 2 days after suffering massive Stoke after operation to remove tumour. Lost half sight in both eyes. Perminant. Did regain the use of left arm later in the year after being in hospital for 4 months having intensive rehabilitation. Tryed to do form on my own, but had just had an other breakdown. Thought the medical was more important. But she saw him at his absolute best first thing in the morning. I did point out the sight loss page is ommited from previous ESA forms. Until I see report I have requested today I have no idea how accurate it is. She was horrible. Assement was 30 mins Max. When son finally started showing signs if fatigue and clearly overwhelmed with the questions fired at him. She quickly moved on to the physical exam on the bed. His neurocycoligist told him he would have to come to terms in the future that he probably would never return to gainful employment. Despite BA honours in criminology he worked hard for at University. This tumour and operation and stroke has ruined his life, future, goals. He cannot retain information due to short term memory problems. His disabilities are hidden, no one can understand unless they spend 24 hours walking in mine or his shoes. Brain injury, labotomy removal if tumour and stroke, leaves him wiped out after the 3 tiny actives he does each week. We hit a wall a year ago and frustratingly for him , he stopped improving with private rehabhabilitation
How am I suppose to speekk up for him. When he carnt speek up for himself. I warned them he relays wrong Info to appease his doctors and specialists. He hates them and just wants to be rid of them. Awaiting doctors report from assessment . until then I font know where we stand. I will attempt a mandatory reconsideration , but the stress involved with I know I won't cope. I'll myself , grieving the loss if my parents and sister to cancer all in the space if 20 months and while all this was going on with my son. I havnt the strength to do this . still recovering from my 3rd breakdown in 2 years. Not enough hours in the day.

Can I ask again, do you know how he qualified for the SG last time?

They put him in the support group while in hospital. As his 13 weeks of being paid was up and he was supposed to attend an assement. So I gave them as much written info as I could leading up to tumour being found, stroke after surgery. I think it was more the fact he was paralysed down the left side and a long stay in patient. We were not aware of sight loss and memory and feature till months later. He needed lots of care daily when discharged. Too vulnerable if left to his own devices.

Did you request the assessment report from his SG award, even if he did not have a face to face interview there would still have been a report.

ESA is awarded for very specific reasons, he clearly met these at some point and is now considered as not doing, you need to understand how he previously qualified as this would be the most obvious route for him to return to the SG.

I'm afraid at the moment you haven't been able to explain why he was placed in the SG. If you don't know then that is fine but you should do your best to find out if at all possible.
