Carers allowance guidelines was created by Leon64
Hello,
Would you be able to tell me where to find the legal guidelines for carers allowance? E.g I know you can theoretically claim for supervising someone but I dont know where to find the info!
Many thanks

Can you explain what you are looking for a bit more, is it the legislation or something else?

I would have thought the legislation but I couldn't find any useful info when I looked it up, I'm looking for things like what they consider the definition of “looking after someone” to be, if there is a particular standard of care to be met, etc

There is no definition of what the care must consist of other than it must be for a minimum of 35 hours a week!

It could be physical care such as washing, it could be indirect care such as providing meals and it could be as simple as providing prompting when needed.

I suppose that would account for me not being able to find it! Is there any advice on claiming carers and PIP for the same tasks? Eg in caring, someone may lift a small weight but due to an underlying illness suffers pains after doing so, meaning they dont pass the PIP descriptors of safely, reliably, etc.
Thanks for your help

Obviously if you are claiming a benefit such as ESA, DLA or PIP then any caring you do must not contradict the reasons why you have an award, so as an obvious example; if you receive PIP because you cannot prepare a simple meal and your caring responsibilities mean that you cook for the person you are caring for then this would be a contradiction.
