Long Wait For Tribunal Date

Good for you, Josephine. What was the tribunal like? How long did it take and how many people were there? I am dreading it - I have been waiting for so long and I am really anxious.

Don't be scared of calling HMCTS & asking about your tribunal date. They are very helpful & understanding, unlike the DWP!

I understand how you are feeling. I was the same and on the day was dreading it, but the panel were reassuring but straight to the point & if I started to deviate they pulled me back to answering their questions. They don't have long as they are dealing with at least 5 cases a day. My hearing lasted about 45 minutes and they asked very specific & detailed questions about my mobility issues, then they asked me & my husband to leave the room. Only I was allowed to speak, my husband was not. After only a few minutes they asked my husband if he would go back in the room to receive their decision as they did not want to put me through any more pain.

Sorry, in my previous reply I didn't answer one of your questions. The panel consisted of a judge, a disablity expert and a doctor who had a great understanding of my medications and the spinal cord stimulator that I have implanted in me. They all had obviously read all the evidence I submitted carefully. There was also the clerk of the court and myself & my husband, so 6 of us in all, in a fairly informal setting with everyone in normal clothes.

Thank you very much for your responses. They really help. Since my previous message, I have actually received the tribunal date - another two months of wait with anxiety, as if I don't have enough to cope with! Thanks again. Pam
