Face to face assessment, was created by John Mac
Hello,
I have to have a face to face assessment for my ESA Support benefit, I will be 65 in 8 months but what I am worried about is while they are deciding on a decision will I still get my ESA nd support payment. Many thanks.

Your ESA will remain in payment until a new Decision is made following the reassessment or until you reach State Retirement Age if no Decision is made before then.

Just a thought.
You can ask for your ESA assessment to be recorded, which they should supply the equipment for. Given the long delays in assessment times and the shortness of availability of recording equipment, you might be able to use this a a kind of delaying tactic to possibly delay your assessment until you reach 65. If not then you have lost nothing and will have a record to keep.

Thanks very much Gordon that has put my mind at rest a little, is it likely to take up to me retiring before I get an answer ?

Hello
David that's a great idea but I have just read the leaflet sent with the appointment letter and it says they are not obliged to supply a recording machine or any equipment. So if there is not one available they will most likely just tell me to go on appointment date anyway. Thanks John.

No, the DWP having agreed to allow the recording of ESA assessments means that Maximus should make reasonable efforts to record your assessment.

I would contact them about a week in advance of the appointment to request that it be recorded, that will maximise the delay to a new one being booked.
