Hi everyone, really pleased to have found this site. I am about to embark on a PIP claim. I made my phone call this morning and was advised the form would be sent to me in about 2 weeks. However, the whole thing does seem a complete minefield! I only met my GP a few weeks ago as my original GP left the surgery 4/5 years ago. I only met him as he had to complete an ESA form (I have an assessment tomorrow). I had one several years ago and now it's come around again. The GP was very nice though it was I felt simply a form filling process with no really relevant questions regarding my condition. Following Cervical Cancer several years ago, I suffer with Pelvic Radiation Disease. Seems not even some GP's have heard of this ! This affects my bladder and bowels. Sorry if this is getting a bit basic. All he basically did was look at the notes on his screen although I did feel that he did understand some of what I go through on a daily basis. I am not unduly worried about my meeting tomorrow for ESA - perhaps I should be. However, the PIP claim from what I have read seems a totally different animal. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated of course and thank you for your time. I feel with the correct guidance from this site, I should be able to complete the form, when it arrives myself.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Our ESA Claim guides have a section that deals with the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1

ESA (in theory) looks at limitations that would prevent you working, PIP considers the problems you would have with a variety of day to day activities, there are some areas of overlap between the wo benefits but even where there are, the criteria can still be quite different. Please have a look at our PIP Claim guides

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If you have questions about either benefit then please come back to the forum, but it would help us if you keep them separate, so reply to this post for any questions about your PIP claim and if you wouldn't mind, start a new one for your ESA claim.
