Be aware, ESA is not a walking test, it is a Mobility test! In addition to your walking it considers your ability to self-propel a manual wheelchair over the same distances, you do not need to be using a wheelchair or even to own one for it to be considered. SO even if you can show your walking is restricted, unless you can also show that you cannot self-propel the wheelchair you will still not score points.

Cheers Gordon , yes indeed . I suffer dreadful severe pain in both arms too and my neck and so on.It is continuous pain 24/7 along with numbness in both arms and some fingers that affects dexterity so I will be certain to tell them that and get my GP to mention it too.Same exactly as I told them last time around. I guess I am just going to have to attend the medical .If I am removed from the SG I will fight them to the death.
I will be sure to let you all know what happens

Hi again, I have requested a home medical for my ESA assessment. So far they have refused .
I have asked my GP for a current letter of support in this matter but so far heard nothing.
I also contacted my MP asking him for support in the matter...he did not even reply.
I have a LOT of days where I physically cannot get out of bed and am immobile and all this was clearly explained in my application pack along with a support letter from the GP that he wrote for me about a year ago . ATOS say this letter is not enough to justify a home visit and I need a more detailed current letter from the GP.
I am terrified that on the day of the medical appointment with ATOS I will be immobile in bed and physically cannot attend.
* If my GP does give me a detailed current letter of support for a home medical and ATOS. STILL refuse me one what should I do ?
Thanks again

Sorry can you add this to the question I posed earlier today too please?
I intend to refer the ESA medical assessors to my PIP medical results from last year which gave me the highest rate for all components.
Now, some of what the PIP medical assessor wrote about me then was obviously very favourable and I agreed with it. (I was examined at home back then BTW) Those are the bits I will refer the ESA medical assessor to next month when I see them.
However, there were parts of my PIP medical assessment results that I strongly disagreed with but did not challenge because I got the overall result I wanted.
When I refer the ESA medical assessor to my PIP results from last year (the favourable bits) is that ALL they will consider or will they go digging and perhaps use the not so favourable parts against me for my ESA medical?
Cheers

And one last thing please , is there any danger in asking the ESA medical assessors to consider my PIP report as evidence ? Would there be any risk that they may start digging and reconsider my PIP award?
Sorry ,I just keep thinking of new questions

There are no good options! Either you attend or you don't!

If you decide to attend then you can ask for assistance in doing so, for example a taxi.

If you decide not to attend or unable to do so on the day then first of all, if this is the first appointment then you can re-book, this may give you a breathing space.

If it is the second appointment then your file will be returned to the DWP who will contact you for your reasons for not attending. They may override the decision not to allow a home assessment, but I have to warn you that this rarely happens, the most likely result is that your claim will be closed.

This is an appealable Decision and it is quite likely that an appeal panel will accept your need for a home assessment, but it could easily take you nine months or more for this to happen!
