ESA underpayment was created by Lorna
Hi I just wanted to ask because my Severe Disablement Allowance was transferred to ESA in 2013 does anyone know if this the same as being transferred from Incapacity benefit and have I received an underpayment for ESA for the last few years?
Does anyone have anymore information about the ESA underpayments?
Many thanks

There is no additional information other than what is included in the BBC news report, it is an assumption at this point that it is related to Incapacity Benefit claimants not being properly assessed for Income Related ESA although it seems likely to be the case.

Although SDA claimants were/are being transferred to ESA(CB), it is less likely that they were not assessed as SDA paid less than IB and so claimants often also had an Income Support claim.

We'll be making more information available in the News section as it becomes available.

You can check whether you are receiving any EWSA(IR) by checking your annual entitlement letter.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I did receive income support with Severe disablement allowance but had to transfer to ESA my CPN help me with the forms but there is not much that I can remember about the figures exactly.
Please can you tell me was EWSA (IR) is I am sure it is obvious but at the moment I'm not sure what it is?
Many thanks I shall look out in the news

Sorry it should read ESA(IR) and stands for Income Related ESA. If you had income support then you should been assessed for ESA(IR) as well as ESA(CB).

Ok Thank you I apologise for the typo mistakes above in my last message.
So if I had SDA with IS it is more likely I was assessed for ESA (IR) where as those transferring from IB did not have that assessed properly is that correct and therefore I would more likely to have had an accurate transfer.
Many thanks again
