Delaying claim due to being in hospital was created by joepublic
My wife is seriously ill in hospital. She applied to increase her DLA from high mobility lower care to get higher care because I have had to give up part tome job to care for her. Had letter saying had to reply by 8th December. I am wary of asking to delay because am worried that they will stop her DLA payments. I just want to delay filling in forms or doing assessments until wife out of hospital and both of us up to it.

My wife got her DLA about March 2013 but had to go through appeal and Tribunal. My wife's condition is far worse now and we are in sheltered accommodation to cope with wheelchair.

You need to contact the relevant DWP department;;

1. It's the only way to delay/suspend the PIP process.

2. You are required to tell them that she is in hospital.

Phone numbers are on the following page
