Very upset, angry and scared was created by Rosie45**
I'm not sure if someone can help, but hoping. My daughter has severe anxiety, depression and awaiting a diagnosis of adult ADD.She is claiming standard pip and in the wrag esa group. I took her to my local job centre on Friday to see about claiming housing benefit. We were told she would have to claim U.C. and her esa and H.B. Would be combined.
The girl then subjected my daughter to an intense 'lecture' on how she will have to make an effort to find work and show them her steps to do this. Also, in the same 'lecture ' that she herself had had depression and she got better by going to the gym and got herself a job etc, and it was 'hinted', that if my daughter was to copy her, then she might also get off her medication and 'be successful '! Also that she would have to attend the job centre every week. She asked her what she was doing to' help' herself. There were other things said but I was so angry and couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I want to make a complaint about her because she didn't know my daughter and made a snap judgement about her, and also tried to make out she was medically qualified to give out advice.

Surely claiming housing benefit or universal credit whilst being ill doesn't mean you have to keep showing steps into work?
My daughter felt very pressured and when we came out, she started crying.
I have been upset and crying since this, and so worried that we have put my daughter in this position.
Please help.

The requirements for a claimant under UC are no different from those for someone in the WRAG as your daughter already is, in fact it may well bee her existing advisor that is involved in setting and Work Related Activity, with the exception that claimants appear to be more likely to be sanctioned under UC than ESA!

As she has an ESA award she should be awarded the equivalent under UC with a reassessment.

If you want to make a complaint about the JC+ person you saw then have a look at the following
