ESA questions was created by Justmehere
Hi
Regarding this question...
How far can you move around safely?
I am in constant pain on standing and walking. But, I can walk unaided and I do not stop because this would not help my pain levels, and in fact, taking longer to walk somewhere would be more painful. I avoid walking due to pain.
Is it correct that I would respond that I can walk 50 metres?
With regards to the question...
Can you pick up and move a large light object?
It is painful for me to bend my knees, therefore, picking anything up from the floor, or lower than waist height (e.g. under table fridge) is painful to do.
Would I respond no for this question?
Please could you explain how the point system works? I have read the guides, but I do not understand if the physical health scores are added to the mental health scores?
Thanks

You are not required to complete any of the ESA activities pain free, however, any pain that limits your ability to complete then should be taken into account, so you need to explain what is causing the pain and how it prevents you completing the two activities that you mention, if it does.
Please be aware, ESA is not a walking test, it is a Mobility test! In addition to your walking it considers your ability to self-propel a manual wheelchair over the same distances, you do not need to be using a wheelchair or even to own one for it to be considered. SO even if you can show your walking is restricted, unless you can also show that you cannot self-propel the wheelchair you will still not score points.
