Hi

I received my f2f appointment on Saturday but it was for the 22nd December and at home but hubby couldn't take the day off due to blanket holiday ban due to work commitments so I called them today to rearrange which they kindly did but it is for this Wednesday. I have a few questions if somebody could help me with. My husband wants to know if he should offer them a drink? and I want to know with regards to the mobility side, could I say if they took my mobility off me how much it would effect me with what little enjoyment I have in going out, I remember CAB did my forms for DLA and they put that it would give me freedom to go out if I got the high rate mobility part. Also one more thing I have been looking through some of the blogs and I am concerned about they make people stand on tip toe, if I did this I would fall over due to leg length differences, can I refuse to do this sort of activity or would it be more helpful to them if I tried and that applies to anything I know I can't do, eg raise my arms above my head is another one, I know for ESA medical they asked me to raise my arms and I couldn't and they didn't do any more activities (I was only in for 5 mins) and got into the support group. Oh and just one more thing, sorry, is it like the ESA medical although that was at a centre and not at home, feeling a bit nervous and just trying to get things clear in my head. I am glad though it is first thing as I am not at my best and also with the cold weather it is making things a lot worse for me.

Many Thanks

It's up to you whether you offer them a drink, most assessors won't accept one anyway and you should be aware that it would mean that your husband might be out of the room when the assessment starts.

You do not have to do anything is it would casue you unreasonable pain or distress, just make sure why you are refusing to do the activity.

You can explain about the difficulties you would have without a car, but be aware that none of these are relavent to your meeting the criteria for an Enhanced Mobility award, so the comments are of limited value.

Our PIP claim guide has a section on the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Hi Gordon

Thank you for the information, when you posted your reply last night I fell asleep and today I have just been googling and using this site to get up to speed and to calm my nerves. Probably when you read this on Wednesday I would have had my assessment, I am feeling very nervous and so is hubby, but feeling confident as well, nervous because I don't like meeting new people and I can get very confused when spoken to, that is why I want hubby with me.

I do have another question but it can wait for now, it is regarding ESA but nothing urgent.

I had my home visit this morning, I'm not sure how it went. First off the lady turned up 15 minutes early, luckily we was ready, she was a nice lady. She could see from the start I have disability problems, and yes we had the scenario where the HP puts words into our mouths but she was the one who was saying I can't do things, the other thing she use to work with my consultant and knows him very well, now can that work in my favour? The other thing I need clarifying she said DWP will have this report today and to expect an answer in 6 to 7 weeks. I had a bad night and had a blinding headache to start off with and was having problems with circulation so it was a good day to do this.

It's now the waiting game.

I would give it a couple of days but then you should be able to request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

PIP Decision have been taking 2-4 weeks but I would expect this to be extended by a week or two by the holiday break.

Hi Gordon

Thanks for the advise I will wait for a few days before giving them a call.

I will let you know the outcome but if this doesn't come before Christmas, I shall wish you now a happy Christmas and New Year.
