Holiday pay and UC was created by AJ70
Hi,

I've been off sick from work for nearly 3 months and am in the assessment stage of Universal credit's esa. My employer has holiday pay waiting for me, am I entitled to this on top of the 73.10 I get a week or will this cause problems?

Many thanks

You are entitled to the money but you need to tell the DWP about it as it will, at least in part, be deducted from your UC.

Thank you Gordon. One more question I've just been told when claiming benefits they take into account money over 6,000, I thought it was 16,000.
I declared what I had at the time which was less than 6,000 but they paid me PIP back pay and it took it over, does it count and do I need to inform the dwp?

There is a deduction of £1/week for every £250 of assets and savings over £6000, however, any regular income shold be disregarded for the period over which it is normally paid, so your PIP
should not be taken into account for four weeks.

However, if the PIP is taking you over the £6000 then you must be very close to the limit so I would advise you to either reduced your savings or be prepared to notify the DWP.
