Esa review. My wife received a phone call two days ago from atos asking her to come in the next day due to a cancelled appointment. This was despite us writing on the form that she would prefer a letter as she get anxious on the phone. We provided a letter we received from her psychiatrist we received about six or seven years ago which among other things said she had suspected borderline pd. the interviewer made a big deal about the fact it was only suspected. Bearing in mind she has been on esa and before that invalidity benefit for twenty years I was confused about why it was such an issue. We filled in the form with as much detail as possible because we knew she gets stressed in interviews and may not express herself adaquetly. At one point he said the form didn’t really count for much and it was the interview that mattered. This concerned me a lot as I’m not sure she explained everything properly and her answers were a bit brief. He spent most of his time typing and looking at the screen. She used to get regular counselling but it stoped about four years ago and hope this doesn’t count against her as he asked about this and seemed surprised. She also has depression anxiety and epilepsy, dizzy spells and drop attacks. Any thoughts on what kind of outcome to expect?

Just so you are aware for the future, claimants do not have to accept short notice appointments if they do not want to.

I'm afraid I can't comment on the likely outcome, we have seen the best assessment result in no award and the worst in the highest award.

You can try to request the assessment report, ask for the ESA85, some offices will send it in advance of the Decision, others will not.
