Pension Credit Guarantee credit was created by lesley
In November 2017, I received a letter entitled "About your Pension Credit". It read, 'We need to make sure you are getting the right amount of Pension Credit.......... We now need to check this information to keep our records up to date............ To do this we will contact you in the near future by letter of telephone'
Now I was expecting a form any day now to fill out asking me about any savings, etc. So was expecting a horrid brown envelope with form all this month. (It's my 70th this month too so was not looking forward to this brown envelope as a birthday gift)
Yesterday I received a letter saying "You have been awarded the Pension Credit guarantee credit..... I am writing to tell you that your recent change in circumstances does not affect the amount of Pension Credit we pay you. This means you will continue to get £xx.xx a week.
We will pay you £xx.xx a week from 28 November 2017'.
Does that mean I won't be getting a form to fill out after all? I certainly did not fill out one. Anyway my savings certainly do not take me over the £10,000 limit so do not have anything to hide.
Would be grateful for any clarity on this.

I would hope that the matter is now resolved but I'm afraid I guarantee that it is.

I don't know if it is the case for Pension Credit but the computer systems for other benefits regularly produce these letters independently of what and adviser might be doing. If you have a contact number on the original letter, I would give them a call to check, at that least that way you will know what is going on and will not be left hanging to see if anything may still happen.

Dear Gordon,
Thank you very much for early and prompt reply. I did as you suggested and just rang the Pension service and politely asked them if this is the end of the matter or can I expect a form.
The advisor that I spoke with said that it looks like the Pension Service has done an automatic desk-top review because they know that I do not get any private pensions. Also that if I had over £10,000 savings that I would tell them anyway.
That's a great relief, I can tell you!
While I am here I know it's a different topic just wanted to say that I applied for a Blue Badge following the guides posted by Jim Allison, I was then asked to send in a cheque for £10, so I telephoned the local council and I am being awarded a blue badge for 3 years. Am having a knee replacement in January. So that will be very useful to use in my son's car when I stay at his and we need to go shopping.
Thank you again at Benefit and Works for all your fantastic guides and advice.

Glad to hear both matters have been resolved reasonably easily.
