DLA to PIP

DLA to PIP was created by Dee
This has taken me nearly a year to write as I have been so I'll both mentally and physically. Three days after Christmas last year I received a form saying that my DLA was ending and that I had to claim a PIP form. I was 67 and had had a lifetime award of DLA for over eight years. I used your very good guides to fill in the forms but to no avail and had a home assessment. The result was that I lost my enhanced care down to middle but kept my mobility. I guess it could have been worse and I could have lost my car like a lot of people did. It was only awarded for two years so I guess the DWP think that a brain condition and rheumatoid arthritis plus other things can get better in two years. I put it forward for a mandatory consideration and my GP wrote another letter saying that I was unsafe with medicine and that I had to have a special box and supervision. This was all ignored just like the assessment. I did start an appeal but decided I could not go through with it. The DWP said that I was safe and in one of their reports they said that they had a specialist nurse report dated 4//1/17, I didn't ring up for the claim form until the 6th of January. Also, the DWP person said that they had sent an expert nurse who specialises in disability. When I looked on the report, the assessor had only put her name, no letters of qualification. I am a retired nurse and we always put letters of registration after our name. I cannot go through this all again as my GP said that it put me under too much stress and major depression. Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry to hear that this has been so difficult for you.

You can still appeal up to 13 months after the date of the Decision.

I'm afraid if the award was only awarded for two years then you should expect to receive the forms to be reassessed in the next month or so.
