Hi Gordon, can I ask if the provision through school of a 'reader' for any exams would be classified as an aid? My son has reading age of 11 and is 16 and has been provided with a reader. I have supplied copies of school confirmation with the application for pips but realise the assessor did not address this question specifically as with the other questions.

If this is a person then they would not be counted as an aid, if it was a device then it would, however, you mention that it was only provided during his exams, which suggests that it would not meet the requirement for the majority of days.
The criteria for the Reading activity is quite strict and you may struggle to show that even someone with a reading age of 11 meets the criteria.
