My son has been on JSA for the past year despite having dyspraxia. I think he was wrongly put onto JSA opposed to ESA. If we make a new claim for ESA do we have to stop the JSA or will this happen automatically? I don't want him to be left out of pocket so don't want him to not receive anything whilst waiting to be put onto ESA. Thanks
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it? He needs to close his JSA claim before he can claim ESA, assuming that he is not in a Uiversal Credit area that is fully live, in which case he will have to claim the UC.
I would make the claim, the day he receives his JSA payment, that will minimise the interuption to his payments.
