Shall I ring the esa helpline? was created by phrank
Over Christmas I was looking through the paperwork from my tribunal on the 18th of December, which I won and was moved from WRAG into the support group with the enhanced severe disability component.

In the letter the judge says that they recommend that I am not assessed for at least two years from this date.

I did ring the helpline up around March last year after I'd read the thread about assessments being put forward for in some cases two years.

The girl on the phone just said, oh no you will be receiving a letter round about October. Obviously from then on I've been worrying about the post every morning.

My question is: have they possibly 'moved the goalposts' since that call last year as I've still heard nothing from them and payments have continued.

I really don't know whether to just sweat it out or phone back to see if my next assessment has been deferred.

It's not impossible that your reassessment date has been moved as a result of the Tribunal's recommendation, although the two years is not binding on the DWP. I'm afraid the only way to know is for you to contact the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Thanks Gordon, the only thing I'm worried about is if my call suddenly generates that dreaded letter.

Calling can't initiate an assessment, the "decision" is based on your having passed the reassessment date on your computer record or their being a Change of Circumstances that requires your claim be looked at again.

Can't believe it, have just phoned the ESA helpline up and a lovely call handler, really nice and friendly said, I don't know why you were told October next year fro reassessment as we won't be in touch with you until the 17th of December 2019!

Am so glad I plucked up the courage!!!!!

I also told her that my GP his supporting me 100% on this and has offered to send a letter, so she is sending me a pre paid envelope so I can send in the letter to them.

December 2018 is just before my 64th birthday so I can relax for a while now.

Anyone else scared of phoning I'd advise to phone just so you know what to expect.

Thanks for your advice, Gordon!!

I would be cautious about sending the letter as it could result in the very thing that you are trying to avoid if it is treated as a Change of Circumstances.
