PIP -Home Visit next week - Advice needed

I have been notified that a Health Professional will come for home visit next week to
assess me. I am migrating from DLA to PIP. I did not request a home visit at all.
I suffer from severe depression and Meniere's Disease along with other health issues.
I really feel paranoid about anyone coming to my house plus there is not going to be anyone at home for the day in question. Please advice me whether I should ring and get the visit changed to their office? What kind of things do they look for in the house? Do they inspect kitchens , shower rooms? How I am dressed? I usually stay in my night cloths, I don't really come down much. Thank you in advance

A home assessment is a recognition by the Assessment Provider that you would have serious issues trying to attend at their office.

You do have the option of moving the date to a more convenient one providing this is the first appointment that you have received, but be aware, if you do this then you cannot move the date again.

It's very unlikely that the assessor will want to look around your home, but if they do then they are a visitor and can only go where you allow them to.

Don't do anything that you would not normally do on a daily basis, just because this person is coming, so if you would normally stay in your night clothes than do so for the appointment and don't feel you need to tidy up or clean.

There is a section in the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked,

Best of luck.

Thank you Gordon for your reply.
I just don't want them in my house, I feel very uneasy about inviting strangers in.

You can ask for an appointment at their offices, but you won't be able to move the appointment again and are you sure that you can manage the journey. Also doing so may have a negative impact on your assessment if reported Mobility or Mixing with Others.

I managed to change my assessment visit to their office as I didn't like the idea of these people coming to my house.
The assessment took place today, by a nurse who kept me waiting for an hour or so.
It appeared that this nurse had not read my application because she asked me questions which were in the application, had she taken the trouble to read. So I suppose I will be granted the points based on the answers I have given today during my assessment.
Some of the questions she asked?
What kind of house do you live, bungalow or a house? Is there a bathroom and a separate shower? Who does the cooking? Do you drive? When was the last time you had a shower?
I am going write these questions up in the next few days. I am not hoping for much from these people. I am preparing myself for an appeal or reconsideration.
