Recording face to face PIP assessments

I understand a number of people have had success with secretly recording their face to face PIP assessment. As I am currently awaiting my possible 'interview' could anyone give me advise as to how they did it. Practicing with my phone didn't work out too well.

I can't offer any advice about making the recording, hopefully other members will respond, but please be aware that if you are caught make the recording then the assessor can terminate the assessment and class you as failing to participate, so only do this if you are confident that you can do so without problem.

We asked to record my husband's assessment and had no problems with them agreeing to it. We then purchased 2 cassette recorders from Argos. We found that the sound quality was not very good so purchased a Tonor Desktop Microphone for each recorder from Amazon and the sound quality was much better. The microphone has to be directed correctly and we practised a lot. We had the recorders set up completely before going to the assessment centre and all we had to do was unravel and plug in.

I did feel that we would have looked very guilty if we had to tried to record without consent and were under enough stress as it was. My husband's claim was successful so the investment was worthwhile.
