Appealing to Upper Tier Tribunal

Appealing to Upper Tier Tribunal was created by Teri
I attended a DLA tribunal hearing recently which failed. I have now requested a transcript and a statement of reasons. My original award of low and low was unchanged.
I know I will be entitled to legal aid to appeal to the Upper Tier Tribunal and I also know an appeal needs to be based on an error of law.
My question is this - I am in Scotland, can you tell me if it’s a specialist solicitor I need to see as surely it needs to be a solicitor with such experience to give me the best chance.
Also would the procedure be that I make an appointment taking the statement of reasons and transcript and they would decide if there’s been an error of law before taking it further?

A slight correction, you should be eligible for Legal Aid, that does not mean that you would receive it if you make an appeal to the Upper Tier Tribunal.

If you don't think that you can handle the appeal on your own then you need to find a solicitor with specific experience of benefit law and appeals to the UTT, this is a specialist area and most solictors have not experience, so check their references before using their services.
