Mandatory Reconsideration Notice Layout was created by ianinpain
Hello Moderator
I recently received written information that I have been awarded both elements of PIP at the Enhanced Rate. I take this opportunity to thank Gordon in particular and all his colleagues at Benefits and Work for your prudent advice and promptness in answering all of my questions and I particularly recommend to those applying for PIP your highly-commendable booklet titled “The Best Possible PIP Claims and Reviews on Physical Health, Mental Health and Learning Difficulties Grounds – April 2017”.

I only scored 1 point for the “Managing Your Treatments” activity and having received the HP’s report on my face-to-face medical assessment I have decided to lodge a “Mandatory Reconsideration Notice”. As both the letter confirming my awards and the HP’s report each have taken a week to arrive I am coming close to having to meet the one month deadline for lodging this notice.

I would therefore greatly appreciate if you would please advise me, as soon as possible, if there is a particular format this document must take and if so please outline the procedure involved?

Please think very carefully about doing this, you have very little to gain and you are risking an awful lot by doing so.

An MR re-evaluates your claim from scratch and whilst it would be unusual, they can remove points as well as add them.

MR revision rates are very low, I would be surprised if the figures we see on the forum top 10%

As you have the maximum award I would not expect this to be a matter that you could take to appeal, the panel are only interested in the award, not how it is comprised.

Replied by ianinpain on topic Mandatory Revision Often Means TOTAL Revision!
Hi Gordon
Thank you very much for your prompt and specific advice regarding my proposed lodging of a “Mandatory Revision Notice”.

I am involved in several voluntary organisations whose role is to assist and campaign on behalf of persons primarily with physical disabilities and the issue of applying for PIP has been top of the agenda for several months.

The issue of lodging a “Mandatory Revision Notice” has often been discussed and there is a consensus of opinion that only the descriptor that the claimant is seeking a revision regarding will be the only one considered by the health professionals at PIP.

Gordon – you are absolutely correct in advising me that the aforementioned health professionals can re-evaluate a claimant’s ENTIRE PIP application and add points (which is most unlikely) or reduce points (which is more likely)!

Thanks again for your prudent and timely advice not only to me but to the many PIP applicants with whom I regularly come in contact.
