DLA to PIP Daughter will be 16 was created by carb
My daughter will be 16 in May and we have received correspondence in December asking if she wants to claim PIP when she turns 16. We have replied that yes she will be making a claim nd I've made an application for me to be her appointee as she is incappable of managing her benefit.

I have this morning received a text from Capita informing me that "Your PIP consultation is taking place at home on 18/12018 at 10.30am. Can anybody advise what this means? is this in your opinion suffucient notice as I will have to take a day off work?

Grateful for any advice

Thanks

Hello Carys B

You are entitled to 7 days notice of an appointment for assessment. You can telephone and request a change to the appointment once, but if you do not keep the rearranged appointment then it is likely that your daughters claim may be closed. It is best to make the appointment whilst on the phone to ensure that the time and place are acceptable.

Thanks for your reply. I phoned the number on the text and it was a number for claimants in Northern Ireland so no good for me as I live in Wales. After several calls (3) and everybody saying that there was no record of my daughters claim I've just called the DLA helpline to be told that the text from CAPITA WAS AN ERROR and for me to ignore the text as my daughter is not 16 until May and therfore there is no PIP claim! This does not bode well does it,

Carys

I would contact Capita to make sure that they understand that there is no PIP claim at this time and that your daughter will not be attending as a result of this.
