Hi Guys
How do I search for a topic in the Forum, I can't find a search icon anywhere, also how do I work out how long I can walk and how far so I don't make a mistake, if I say I can walk 9 mts in 45 seconds will this be acceptable for higher rate?
Thank you for your help

The search is in the top right of the page. Once you have done an initial search you can refine it further on the results page that will open.

Average walking speed for a healthy adult is 72m-90m per minute, to meet the "timely" requirement you need to walk at no more than half this pace, from your post you are assessing your walking speed as 12m per minute.

However, the legal test first considers the distance so if this is limited then you need to explain this first and then go on to explain that you cannot do it reliably.

Remember, you must be limited on the majority of days.

Hi Gordon
The distance I can walk is 18 to 20 mtrs max and at my speed of 12 mtrs a minute can you say if this would achieve higher rate, not very good mathematical but in light of your 72-90 mts /min example I assume it would do.

Yes, you are assessing yourself as scoring 12 points for an Enhanced award but you will need to explain in detail your problems and in particular provide evidence to support your walking speeds as both assessors and Decision Makers tend to overlook "reliability" issues.

Hi Gordon thanks for the reply, however on the website you say how important the word reliably is ? So how is it you say assesses and decision makers don't take much notice of reliably ?
I am a bit confused,Can you explain, should I still repeat saying reliably or not on my how your disability affects you form?
Thank you

The simple explanation is that they don't do their jobs properly.

Of course you should mention any reliability issues on the form.
