PIP Enquiry was created by dyanb
Hi, I have a question if you can help. My son was turned down for pip with 0 points. Following a MR he was awarded enhanced mobility and missed enhanced daily living by 1 point. He could have easily fought for the 1 point but had had enough. His situation has slightly changed which would easily give him the more than the one point he needed. There are 3 sections of the decision which would give him more points to entitle him to enhanced daily living. How do I go about getting these changes looked at and increased now. He has also just had a response from esa (finally) which has put him in support group and increased money, but due to that missing 1 point (pip) he is missing out on the SDP.

What should I do to get those extra points on PIP added.
Thank you

First a correction, SDP eligibility is based on the claimant having a PIP Daily Living award, it does not need to be the Enhanced rate.

You say there has been a "slight change", it may just be your phraseology this does not suggest that he would meet the criteria for a higher DL award, have you looked at the criteria he will need to meet for the Enhanced rate.

If you and he believe that he does then you should notify the DWP office dealing with his claim that his limitations are worse due to a deterioration in his conditions.

Be aware that this will result in a new form to complete and almost certainly a face to face assessment. The new Decision will replace his existing award.

He lost points because his gastroparesis wasn't diagnosed, and his dialysis was 3 days a week in hospital for 4 hrs a time. Also as he wasn't under any psychology for his depression. He is now on home dialysis 5 days a week for 4 an 1/2 hrs a day (they do want him to do more. He has now a diagnosis of gastroparesis (throwing up many times day and night) and finally under psychology. So the points they didn't give him are covered and all initial problems are still there that got him the points in the first place.

You don't need to repeat your posts, all posts are moderated and won't appear in the forum until approved :)

You may struggle to score for the Dialysis, it is not the time of the therapy that is considered but the time that supervision is actually required and the DWP will likely take the view that this would only be at the start of the session and the end . So you will need to explain some detail why this is not the case, if it isn't.

Sorry about that. I didn't realise and thought it hadn't posted. He does need constant supervision due to problems with fistula constantly failing. Also so tired he falls asleep and cannot hear alarm. I have to stay with him for start to finish. Also after treatment.
