Can you be called for a 2nd F2F?

Hello all,
I'm shortly due to attend a F2F for PIP. I have numerous chronic health challeges including ME/CFS which causes my 'brain fog' as I call it. Once I have completed the F2F, can the DWP decide that the assessment is of no use to them - possibly because the assessor didn't get the answers the DWP wanted, and request a second F2F?

If so, can I decline the second F2F?

If I decline the second F2F, will the DWP make a decision using the evidence they have? Can I still request a mandatory reconsideration?

Ultimately, would I still be able to appeal a DWP decision and go to tribunal?

Also, does anybody have any tips for what to say to the assessor if they won't accept the answer I give to their question?

Many thanks.

The DWP can't reject an assessment report because they don't like the recommendation but they can request a new report, which may require a new face to face if the report is considered to be substandard. However, it would be very unusual for this to happen.

If a second F2F is required then declining to attend would likely fail your claim.

Your appeal rights would not be effected whatever scenario happened.

The assessor won't reject what you say but they may put their own interpretation on it. All I can advise is for you to take a second or two to make sure you understand what is being asked and try and answer based on what you can do, not what is being asked.

So rather than saying "yes but..." try and reply "no I can only do...".

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for the reply. One bit i'm not clear about is when you say that if I were to decline a second F2F, then that would likely fail my claim. That sounds like my PIP claim just stops as though i've decided to withdraw my application.

If I have the right of appeal, then would the DWP still have to make a decision based on the first F2F, and that I would still be able to go through MR in order to proceed to tribunal?

Thanks.

If you fil to participate in an assessment then you are in effect closing your claim, an assessment is a required part of the Decision process.

Forgive me but I think you are over thinking this, you haven't even had the F2F yet, let's deal with the issues that might result from the interview when and if they occur.

Thanks again for the info - much appreciated. PS: As an aside, had my F2F for my current PIP claim yesterday - my first PIP claim was a couple of years ago - that one went all the way to tribunal - who found in my favour. I am now in 'recovery fall-out phase' and experiencing severe M.E. Post Exertional Malaise'. PPS: the F2F, nearly didn't get going at all as the doorway was too narrow for my walker to fit through - my friend had to take a wheel off!
