PIP ASSESSMENT TODAY was created by Daisyc3cjs
Well my first date on 3rd January was cancelled by them and rearranged for today at 2pm. 2pm came and went and I was eventually called in at 2.20 p.m. The lady introduced herself by name and said she was a Nurse. She seemed very pleasant and explained she would ask relevant questions and not so relevant questions as she had to, so far so good. The walk from the waiting room was very short about 10 paces which was fine. She did not ask me to do any exercises or pick up any cups or anything like that. However, two things come to mind. Firstly she asked for how many minutes I could walk and not actually how far. This I feel can be very open ended, i.e., if you walked fast for 2/3 minutes you would naturally get further than walking slowly for 2/3 minutes. The second thing was that she had not heard of Brachytherapy (this is internal radiotherapy) which I have had, and I actually helped her spell this out. I was quite surprised that as a Nurse she had no knowledge of this but I guess they can't know everything?

So all in all I was in there for no more than 20 minutes so I guess it's watch this space.

Any thoughts on the above would be appreciated of course.

Forgive me but I long ago gave up trying to second guess an award from how the assessment went :(

Give it a couple of days and you should be able to request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

PIP Decisions usually take 2-4 weeks.

Hi I think I will wait until I get the decision and take it from there, just thought the question about walking was a bit strange as on the form it states how far as opposed to how long.

As you said in your original post, the distance that can be walked in a fixed time will vary depending on the speed of walking.
