Home Assessment - a little confused? was created by jotei1966
Hi,
I posted before Christmas in another thread regarding my worries about my reassessment form dropping throw my letterbox so close to Christmas & hoped the medical wouldn't fall over the Xmas period as I sent my reassessment form back early November.
Well thankfully my WCA appointment was arranged for early January, this however was rearranged so that a family member could accompany due to my severe agoraphobia/anxiety and to arrange a audio recording. This was not a home WCA but at one of their medical centres. (I didnt even bother requesting home medical as I was under the impression they are virtually impossible to get accepted for)
Anyway 2 weeks prior to my appointment in early January, I sent additional medical evidence (mainly a full doctors written report and to notify them my medication had been changed to a stronger dose of different medication.
Then, cutting it very short indeed - just a day before my WCA at the centre I received a letter stating:

"I am writing to you with regards to your request for a home visit for your employment support assessment .
A healthcare professional has now reviewed the medical evidence received, and has approved a home visit for your assessment.
Therefore, there is no need to attend the arranged appointment at the assessment centre. Any appointment has now been cancelled.
You will therefore be contacted in due course with the appointment details of the home visit"

blah blah
The odd thing is I didn't actually request a home visit?? I simply sent them additional updated medical information with a cover letter to explain it was medical evidence and change in meds (as I stated on the ESA50 assessment form I returned to them as I had to get form back within the deadline and evidence was available for me to include at that time )
Although, I'm not complaining at all - I am much more comfortable with a home assessment as last time at the centre was a physical nightmare for me. Anyway I am now awaiting to hear from them regarding my new home appointment date.
But is this normal practice - seems very odd especially as I did not "officially" request this ??
I will state my main medical condition is agoraphobia related, which my doctor's report explained in detail and how it severely affects me.
I guess I can only assume "they took it upon themselves to offer me a home assessment after reading my doctors report" - it's just a little confusing as my last assessment 2 yrs ago they received virtually same evidence but I wasn't offered a home visit on that occasion ?

jotei

It could be down to the change from ATOS to Maximus.

cheers Gordon, but I thought that took place some time back?
Altho I guess it can take time to work through things (different approaches etc..) .. Its at least nice to know someone is actually "reading" evidence (albeit "misreading" an actual request) ;-)
