pip and esa was created by cw
hi all I have a couple of questions and wonder if you could help out. first off my esa was due for renewal on 8th of January but as of yet have heard nothing from them, is there a backlog at the mo. im in no rush for the renewal to come but because it hasn't i get in a panic every time the postman arrives. im on esa support group. also i was told of the news today regarding pip mobility and mental illness and the possibility of getting enhanced mobility. i have a long term mental illness and was awarded pip enhanced care and low mobility in December 2016. i was awarded low mobility and on report they have ticked needs prompting to undertake any journey to avoid overwhelming psychological distress. this only gave me 4 points so i got low rate. i have only just had this pointed out to me and on the report the decision maker also wrote i am unable to go out alone. so i never needed prompting i cannot go out alone and only go to medical appointments with someone with me. i believe i have a chance to get enhanced mobility because the decision maker has said i am unable to go out alone. is this correct. also as i was awarded in 2016 and its a three year award im guessing its too late for decision to be looked at again. any thoughts many thanks

Why do you think you were due a reassessment on the 8th?

There are delays still in the ESA assessment process but not at the DWP end.

Claimants who have problems going out will not meet the criteria for Descriptor (f)

f. cannot follow the route of a familiar journey without another person, an assistance dog or an orientation aid. 12 points.

By definition, to follow a route you must be able to leave your home and according to your post you cannot do this.

It's only a recommendation :)

You do not need to take any action if you do not wish to, your ESA will remain in payment until a new Decision is made on your claim and this will not be impacted on by your not having received any form.

If you want to check what is going on the contact the DWP office dealing with your claim.
