Having later yesterday spoken with the Veterans Welfare Service, this situation is apparently quite common, and it really does need sorting out.
As I mentioned earlier, on the old DLA claim form there was a tick box (Q59 – About other Benefits) that one could tick to show one was in receipt of the relevant overlapping benefit. This question is not included anywhere on the PIP claim form (it is not even mentioned in the supporting literature), so unless the DWP spot it written in the free text of Q15 – Additional Information, then they overpay the benefit.
This is of course assuming that the claimant actually knows about it and mentions it in the ‘free text ‘ Q15! There isn't any request on the forms for this important information, nor mentioned in the supporting literature sent with the application form.
I suppose in my case, as I am not getting anywhere with the DWP myself, is the next step is to get my MP involved?
