I look after my relative who has various health issues. He had a medical last August for PIP and was awarded high rate for mobility and low rate for care. He has now had a letter to go for a medical for reassessment of his ESA, he is currently in the support group. I was under the impression that if people could only walk for 20 metres then they would automatically be placed in the support group or have I misunderstood. He is getting really stressed going for two medical assessments in a short space of time.
ESA and PIP are completely separate benefits with different criteria. There are no circumstances in which being eligible for one will give you automatic right to the other.
