Hi,

I recently started a PIP claim on the 22/12/17 and received the PIP2 form 1 week later. The date for returning the form was the 22/01/18. Unfortunately I mislaid the original form. I phoned on the 09/01/2018 to explain & to request a replacement form. The operator agreed to send a replacement form and without me asking offered a 2 week extension until the 05/02/18. One week later the replacement form came out but instead of stating that it needed to be returned by the 5th it said that it needed to be returned by the 09/02/18. I sent a letter requesting clarification and requested proof of postage - it was signed for the next day. I was concerned that a completely new claim had commenced as opposed to an extension of the original claim. I waited for a response in writing but nothing arrived. Last Friday I phoned to seek clarification 3 times - seems like overkill I know. To be honest I wasn't filled with confidence from anyone I spoke with - there seemed to be a distinct lack of knowledge. I mentioned my letter request for clarification and was advised that they wouldn't respond to general enquiries like this and that I would need to phone in to get this information - seems unbelievable, can this be right?? Anyhow all 3 operators when pushed said it would be okay to return by the 9th despite the extension being originally agreed as the 5th. They also said it was an extension of the claim initiated by my telephone call made on the 22nd of December 2017. I'm still concerned as I have nothing in writing - I gather calls are recorded but I wouldn't like to rely on this should an issue arise. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Apologies for the long winded nature of the topic.

I you can then I would stick to the 5th, however if you need and extra couple of days then you have documentation from the DWP to support the 9th.

Remember the date is for the to be received by so make sure you factor in postage time.
