Applying for PIP was created by Sangita
Hi,
Recently I was advised by an independent source that I should apply for PIP.(I am already in the ESA support group).
When I phoned the PIP line today, I was told that I would have to give some info so that they could send me a form to fill in. I went ahead with this, but now having read some conflicting views online, I'm panicking whether I have done the right thing as it seems that if I'm not awarded PIP that it could affect my ESA award,if not now, then maybe in the future.
I was wondering if I still have a choice as to whether I fill in the form once I receive it or if I have to fill it in now I have begun the application by phone?
I really need some clarification about this and would really appreciate your advice.
Many thanks

As long as you are not currently in receipt of DLA then you can withdraw the claim, however, I would not expect a failed PIP claim to have an effect on your ESA award, the two benefits have different criteria, even where there are overlaps.

Thankyou Gordon for your fast reply!
In the initial phone call, they go through T&C to which you have to agree to in order to proceed. From what I can remember, they say something along the lines of that it could affect applications for other benefits in the future.
To be honest, I find it all extremely stressful, the worrying about everything and having to have another face to face assessment, it put me off applying for PIP in the past.
Thank you again
