Firstly I'd like to thank you for your brilliant guides, they helped a lot with my claims.
I've been awarded pip and esa, I need to do a change of circumstances for pip and am expecting to lose some points as my needs have changed slightly for one descriptor but remained high and the same on the others.
For my esa I got in the support group under the criteria of substantial risk. I asked for the assessment report, it mentions three of my conditions as to why they came to that decision but none of these have improved at all. Do I need to inform the dwp of changes to do with esa even though it seems I didn't score on descriptors?
Thank you

If you believe that the risk of harm, to you or others has been reduced by the changes that you mention, then you are required to contact the DWP about them, if the risk is not reduced then you don't.

If you do report a change to the DWP then you need to be prepared to have that benefit reassessed with a high likelihood of your being required to attend a new face to face.

Thanks so much Gordon, the risk hasn't reduced so I'll just report about pip. Thanks again for clearing up my confusion.

Sorry a couple more questions before I start this process!
I've read it's better to write to the dwp rather than phone, will it matter? If I write explaining the change, but explain nothing else has changed and include some new evidence to back that up could this avoid having to fill out a new assessment and/or a f2f? I didn't need a f2f with my esa and for pip the assessor wrote in detail about how badly the experience affected me while he was assessing me. I guess I'm hoping to limit the stress if possible, like we all are.

Thank you again for your time

In this case I would write and if you can afford it, send using a tracked post so that you have a receipt for delivery. If you phone and there are issues then you will have to request a copy of the call to show that you made it, which if nothing else will considerably delay the process.

I'll be honest, if you report the change then I think that it is almost certain that you will receive a new form and have another face to face.
