A late PIP Appeal due to extenuating circumstance

I am acting on behalf of my daughter and requesting a late PIP appeal due to extenuating circumstances. She was sectioned and was in a psychiatric hospital with severe anxiety, depression and paranoia when the appeal letter was delivered to her address. We are waiting for a decision from the court as to if they will accept the late appeal.
She applied for PIP in August 2017. She filled in the claim form to the best of her ability which was not good at the time. My daughter attended the consultation on her own because she had estranged herself from her family and friends due to her mental illness. She was in tears, anxious and afraid at the consultation and just said anything that came into her head.
To cut a long story short she was refused PIP and asked for a mandatory appeal. I don't know what descriptors she chose when she filled in the original claim form but they were obviously the wrong ones as she also has physical problems.
I subscribed to Benefits and Work on her behalf about 18 months ago because she was put in WRAG when it was obvious she should be in the Support Group. I was her representative for the appeal which she won and was put in the Support Group for 2 years.
Apologies for such a rambling message but I thought it would be selfish not to contribute the forum. I will keep you informed about what happens next. This is the first time I have ever used a forum so apologies for any mistakes I make.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

If you have submitted an appeal then the DWP's submission, which you should receive a copy of, will contain her claim form, so you will have a better idea of how she described her problems.

Our PIP Claim guide details the PIP criteria that she will need to meet for an award.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
