The Recording Of ESA & PIP assessments was created by ThisGovernmentsGoneToFar
Hi all, need to know the full info regarding the above I have purchased a New NEAL 9103 Triple CD Audio Interview Recorder as it does 3 identical copies at once in CD. I managed to get it a great deal through a friend on this device as he works in this field.

I know PIP don't supply them I'm ok regarding PIP at the moment I don't have to worry for a good while regarding PIP as I've been treated right by this process very lucky I feel but even when that comes around again I want that also recorded whether at home or away if I have to go through it again?

I purchased the above because sometime soon my ESA SG will come and I simply don't trust anyone especially THEM and I want it recorded full stop (ESA still waiting the dreaded esa50 4 years on) so now I'm panicking again.

I also know Maximus are suppose to have their own recording equipment but I don't trust them either? I was wondering can I say to them if I have to have a home visit or attend their centre, I wish to use my own equipment instead and explain it's a (NEAL 9103 Triple CD Audio Interview Recorder) at least I won't run the risk that it won't be recorded or their device or them saying it's not here or it has broken.

I would also like to know the full facts around recording these assessments please I have picked up bits here and there so are there many if any pitfalls to watch out for.

I know I will have to sign a form and give their assessor a copy of it which I don't have issues with I just want to get me issues across without them lying in the reports back to the DWP I hear so many problems with the assessments and lies they tell and I don't want to be a victim like many poor soles and what they have been through, I just want to give them my full truthful information and I want theirs too.

Thanks in advance for any advice regarding this I know I may be forward thinking here but I want to get this right I suffer enough like many of us but I'm taking No chances anymore with these dirty lying scum and I want my rights not their lies.

I bet Gordon knows haha.

There really isn't very much to this :)

- You need to request permission to record the assessment, I would do it in writing and separately from returning the claim form, you can phone but there is no guarantee that the call be recorded and can be referenced if there are problems.

- I would explain in your letter that you will be using your own equipment, include a specifications of the machine, even if the Assessment Provider is able to provide their own.

- If you can use shrink wrapped CDs on the day then do so.

- Understand that the assessor has final right of refusal for the recording. If they do refuse, don't get annoyed, we are not aware of anybody who has been penalised because a recording could not be made on the day and a new appointment being required.

- Any paper work that is required to be signed is the assessor's problem, you don't have to provide it.

As an aside check the equipment in advance, make sure yo know how to use it and how to load the CDs. Also check recording levels and consider using a separate microphone.

Thanks Gordon.

1) I knew I would have to get permission first could you tell me the best way to word the letter asking them for permission please if you can as I need to make an impact that I want it recorded.

2) I will of course explain my equipment it's better than theirs lol.

3) CDs will be sealed without doubt.

4) They will only refuse if they've got something to hide which I have not but I will pursue if they refuse.

5) Re paperwork I know they will get me to sign a disclaimer etc. Understand that.

6) I know how and have checked equipment and re checked it. So I know it works very well and I have boundary mics too. All good.

1. There's a template letter in the ESA section in Word format that you should be able to adapt.

2. :)

3. If you buy a stack then the individual CDs won't be, just be aware.

4. I don't agree, some people will not want to be recorded, it's not that they have anything to hide, they just don't want to.

5. OK

6. Tick

Gordon.

1) will check it out. Happy days.

2) it is better than theirs hahaha I can defo tell you that my Police friend said it's topaz they use them.

3) mine are all sealed CDs I don't but stacked ones. Cheers for the tip Gordon.

I'm sorry Gordon for 4) if they do that dirty lying job and they have nothing to hide they shouldn't mind being recorded I know you beg to differ.

5 & 6) all good.

I hope this will be great advice for anyone else looking to go down the same road in reagards to this procedure.

Gordon as always I value your input.

Hi Gordon, just an update regarding my recording equipment I've done several tests it in various situations with the two bondray mics and it pics up every little detail in depth and you can hear every word spoken vary clearly also had test with music playing it the back ground again voices speech very clear.

I've also tested in a Normal CD player and again perfect. Also I have the metadata embedded in the CDs which time and date stamps everything and can be all seen within a computer.

It's just another backup as I may or not have to attend an assesment but you just never know and want to be prepared incase. I believe it was money well spent and may never use it, but if I do and hopefully they won't then tell their lies as it's being recorded and my equipment is way easy to use.

Well worth me buying it and very pleased I did.
