Query - PIP and mandatory reconsideration

I'm supporting a friend - he's had a PIP award but thinks that points should have been higher in failing living (8) and mobility (4) for Crohn's disease. Benefits advisors who helped him had initially assessed as over 12 on each. He has now received the health professionals report and there are gaps on most areas of assessment including some mixing with other people, communicating - linked to mental health issues ( depression and anxiety)The advisor is saying he would need new evidence to put forward. Looking at your guide and descriptors - it seems to me that the HP has not given weight to the mental health issues. Does he really need new evidence? Or should we focus on adding additional detail to the areas that we think have been missed e.g the impact of depression on his ability to mix with people. Thank you

Also, I've looked at the guide on Mandatory reconsiderations and appeals - should we use the template letter or is that format intended for the appeal stage. Thankyou

They don't specifically need new evidence but it may help if they do.

I would go back to scratch and make sure that they understand the criteria that they have been assessed against and to check that they have shown that they meet this. They need to be able to complete the activities "reliably" and "on the majority" of days, so if they have not shown this then this may explain the lack of points.

There's a template letter for an MR in the Submissions PDF, appeals are done on a form.
