No DLA and no PIP

No DLA and no PIP was created by L. Andrews
I was examined by an assessor at home in February 2017. I heard nothing after that and was paid DLA (indefinite award) until the end of November 2017. When there was no PIP payment after that I rang DWP. They told me that my PIP claim had been rejected about a week after my assessment in 2017 but that no letter had been sent to me and as DLA had continued to be paid I wasn’t aware anything was wrong. I wrongly assumed that there was a backlog as had been reported online and on many forums. I have asked for a reconsideration but doubt I’ll hear anything about that either. Someone will look at it and think I’m a year late and ignore it.
Today I went to my Doctor to discuss pain control and ended up in tears telling her that I have been considering suicide and have researched how I could do that with my current medication. I am normally a strong and positive woman but am so tired of this non-life and having to fight for everything. It has been a difficult 30 years and I’ve had enough. I’m a mum and I know my adult daughter would be devastated if I were to do so. But she is the only thing keeping me alive even though she works and lives 24 hours away. I see on this website’s pages that the Government says no one will be worse off. Well, I am, I have no income apart from ESA (support group) and cannot apply for other benefits until I have a final decision from DWP. I haven’t the physical or emotional strength to go to a Tribunal whereas once I would have fought to the bitter end. Debts are mounting up and I’m living off porridge. Sometimes life is really pants.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I'm sorry to hear that you are finding this so difficult.

I will warn you in advance that revision rates at the MR stage are very low but they are significantly higher at appeal, more than 60%, so there is every reason to request one. If you feel that you cannot attend then you do have the option of asking for a Paper hearing that you do not have to go to.

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect.

If you have any questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
