Starting DLA to PIP process and already confused

I received the letter inviting me to claim PIP yesterday. Made the phone call this afternoon all pretty straight forward then towards the end the lady I was speaking to said ok your claim has been started and a form will be sent out to you to fill in should have it in 3 weeks.

Then she said in the next 14 days I could get a phone call form someone asking for more information about my health condition. Asked her what would they be phoning for when I haven't received or filled in the other form yet. And she seemed a bit hesitant then said oh it may be just to book your medical

Has anyone had someone phone them before they've filled the pip2 form in?

Thank you for any help

I would not expect anyone to contact you before your PIP2 is returned and I'm not aware of anybody else reporting this as happening although my memory is not what it used to be :(

Hello Gordon thank you for your reply that's what I was thinking too.
Another question just wondered if you or anyone else will have any advice for me.

I have cerebral palsy and epilepsy. When I'm out I often use a wheelchair but at home I walk about a little bit although walking can result in me having falls as my balance is a bit shot to pieces! Am unsure how I should fill the forms in or what I should do if called for a medical.

Any advice would be helpful.

PIP only looks at your ability to stand and then move, the walking needs to be outside.

So you need to explain how far you can walk outside and if you can't, why this is the case. Remember the reliability criteria and the requirement to be effected on the majority of days.

As to the assessment, don't do anything you would not normally do when you go out, so if this means that you attend in a wheelchair then that's fine.

Just a quick question if someone pushes your wheelchair is that classed as you being able to go the required distances they state on the forms when they ask you how far you can walk

No, because the use of a wheelchair is not considered. It is only the distance that you can reliably walk on the majority of days that will be looked at.
