DLA and ESA was created by Boots
Hi All,

I have the highest rates of DLA care and mobility awards for many years and it I was/is an ‘indefinite ‘ award if that’s the correct word.

I also recive, and have done for as long as I have had the DLA award, ESA and do not contribute to it.

I have recently been sent an ESA claim for that went missing, I contacted the people at Bootle who sent the reminder letter. I was advised to download and print one off and submit that. I was unable to get the enquire logged as my file was not ‘open’ for comments etc untill the form was returned, I could have had these comments logged by the Job Cntre (Plus)? but didn’t as I was going to explain in the covering letter.

Next was the ‘flue like symptoms ‘ and I’m just about over that now and preparing to fill in/send the ESA form and supporting paperwork.

To day I’ve recived the appointment, in early March, for the assessment.

My questions concerning this are,

1. Do I not qualify automatically for ESA due to receiving highest rate DLA?

If I do that would be a relief!

2. If I don’t auto qualify would my best action be,

Cancel the assessment, I can do this once,.

Fill in the form(s) and send them in with a covering letter and all supportive copy documents?

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm afraid your DLA award does not entitle you to ESA.

You have two options with regard the ESA50.

- Download a copy from the following link

www.gov.uk/government/publications/capab...r-work-questionnaire

this of course assumes that you can print it.

- alternatively write a letter, using the same format as the ESA50,

If you can send the above to Maximus in advance of the assessment then I would as it may remove the need for a face to face to be done.

If not then take a copy to the assessment and ask the assessor to read it and include it in your file before they start the interview.

I would also send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Please make use of our ESA Claim guides to help you complete the form or letter, it also has a section that covers the assessment and the questions that you are likely to be asked.
