Dow to pip was created by Mellymel
I was invited to apply for pip from dla early dec 17, I completed claim form but after reading advice on benefits and work realised I needed to word things differently and enhance my answers to back up what I was stating on form. I rang pip on 2/1/18 and requested another form and they agreed to extend return date to 5/2/18.
I duly returned the claim form and was sent an appointment for assessment in home town on 19/2/18 I rang pip again on the 13/2/18 to request a home medical stating why I thought I qualified for one and was told they would be in touch.
Received letter yesterday with home assessment on 2/3/18 between 11am - 1pm.
I’m dreading the assessment but hope that after reading all notes on B&W site I feel better equipped to handle the questions and hopefully my answers will be concise, factual and unambiguous.
Will keep you posted on outcome

Hi,
I had my assessment at home yesterday. The person assessing me ways an occupational therapist and to be honest it seemed to have gone ok. The assessor had a piece of a4 paper with him with notes in if my medication and from what I could tell notes on some of the pip claim questions I had provided. I had a copy of my PIP claim at hand and I had to refer to it several times in order to answer the questions he was asking. I have fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis in many joints, sciatica and depression and I only ever leave the house to go to the gp or hospital. I was shocked that he didn’t want to look round the house at the aids I have, nor did he ask me to walk. He asked me to do some movements but only if I could. Obviously I tried to and he seemed to have accepted my limitations.
I’m now awaiting the dreaded brown envelope which he said could take 3 to 4 wks to receive. I’m not holding my breath but hopefully I’ll be able to get some points - I was previously receiving high rate care and high rate mobility dla.
Keep you posted

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Don't rely on the HRC as this is awarded for fundamentally different reasons that PIP.
