Blue Badge eligibility review

Blue Badge eligibility review was created by TJQ
At my recent PIP appeal hearing I was awarded both Enhanced rate Care and Mobility. A total of 17 points in care and 14 in Mobility and yet I am still not eligible for a Blue Badge. I subsequently made some enquiries and discovered that currently there is a government consultation regarding proposed benefits to the scheme in the UK which would enable me to apply for a badge. If you are in a similar situation to myself I would urge you to respond to the consultation which you can do online at; www.gov.uk/government/consultations/blue...e-eligibility-review

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for posting a link to apply for a Blue Badge.

Unfortunately you have not read my post or perhaps you do not understand the criteria for eligibility.

I would suggest that you click on the link that I posted and learn about the proposals and how they will potentially benefit more people Disabled people who like me DO NOT tick the right boxes.

As a Moderator I read every post that is published and having provided members with benefit advice for over seven years I think I have a good understanding of the Blue Badge criteria.

Oh and by the way, we published details of this consultation in the B&W newsletter in January!

Hi Gordon,

Its great to hear that you have been providing members with benefit advice for over seven years. I myself have been on Disability Benefit since I was 20 years old, some 25 years ago and also have some pretty extensive knowledge,

1. Just because you have have 14 points or Enhanced rate mobility component of PIP in England does NOT automatically entitle you to a blue badge.
2. In order to get automatic entitlement to the Blue Badge in England you must score 8 point or more under the 'Moving Around' activity of the PIP Mobility component.
3. The current consultation currently proposes that you will also be eligible in England for the Blue Badge if you receive 12 points under Planning and Following a journey.

For your information, whilst I scored 14 points, I did not receive 8 in Moving around nor 12 in Planning and Following a journey, so your advice to apply online for a blue badge is meaningless

As for the consultation, Yes, I read in your the January update that you did in fact mention it, however nowhere in the article was there a link to the survey shown or instruction given as to how readers could access it to voice their views. The fact is that trying to find the consultation was not that easy!

If anything, B&W should be encouraging readers to respond to the consultation as I believe that many Disabled people in my situation who as well as suffering from physiological conditions also suffer from psychological conditions will be effected by the proposal.

Nevertheless as you pointed out you are the Moderator and after your responses I have now said what I have to say and wont be wasting my time posting on this forum again or subscribing to B&W. Your know it all attitude sucks!

And I don't need to deal with members who start their experience on B&W by being rude to those trying to help them.
