Long term sickness was created by julia
Please can anyone offer me some advice I have been off work since the 8th of December I work as a medical secretary for the nhs. At the moment I am unable to walk without using 2 sticks I have no strength in my left side and pins and needles and pain in feet and left eye. I have been to 2 long term sickness reviews and I asked the HR lady what will happen to me I have been told after my sick pay full and half runs out I will be left with no job as I cannot do my job. Gp and occupational health are supporting me and I am in the dark at the moment with diagnosis as referral tosee neurologist is not until 29th May 2018 I have 3 years continuous service and I have only been in pension scheme for 6 months .

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Please speak to your union representative and do not offer to resign without getting advice first.

When your Statutory Sick Pay runs out you can make a claim for ESA if are not in a Universal Credit Full Service area

www.gov.uk/employment-support-allowance/how-to-claim

Or Universal Credit, if you are

If you have any specific questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

That's something to ask you rep and then HR about, it's not something that we can help with.

please ensure you do as Gordon suggests.
Make sure you get plenty of advice from your Union rep and get them to attend every and any meeting your HR wishes to have with you.
This I know to the full cost of trying to do all on my own when you are at your lowest.
As you have only been in any scheme for a few months this will inhibit what you can receive.
Do not do Voluntary redundancy as this prohibits the scheme you are in to provide you with an income, nor get retired from work due to ill health as this too will not help.Really ensure you are well and truly covered with proper lucid advice from the Union rep and maybe a specialist who deals with this sort of problem to someone who is only in the infancy of a pension scheme. Take real care not to fall into the pit of being stuck without any form of income. Good luck
