DLA to PIP...when to apply? was created by MxJones
Sorry if this has been asked time and time again, but I'm a bit freaked out right now as even though I knew that this day was coming finding the 'brown envelope of doom' this morning was a shock (I'd only got a letter saying my DLA would be going up a week ago so wasn't expecting this so quickly afterwards).

My question is, if I get my carer to phone tomorrow will that halt my DLA payment due in a couple of weeks? As if this does happens I will have to work around a sudden drop in income I wasn't really prepared for (though to be fair, saving up anything over the past year has been tough even with massive cut backs and giving up most of my 'leaving the house now and then' fund)

I know applying for the switch over is better done sooner rather than later, I'd just like to know where I'll be money wise now rather than find out on the day the:dry: DLA is supposed to come in.

Don't worry your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after a Decision is made on your PIP Claim.

Dear MX
You can win a couple of weeks extra time to start reading & understanding the PIP guides & PIP2 form (specimen available on gov.uk) if you delay phoning to do the PIP1 questions over the phone.
I'd leave it until 3-4 days before deadline, but not last minute as you may be on hold for 20-40minutes or cut off!! 8am is meant to be the best time. When asked confirm you want your DLA notes to be considered(they won't be!).
It is a real struggle to get all the medical evidence/gp letter/consultant letters/notes in time!
There is also the option of an additional 2 week extension to get the form back if you phone DWP.
Hope this is understandable, if not I'm sure Gordon can clarify.
Best of luck!
