Hi
I developed adult onset .tourettes about 4 years ago ,.and finally last year when it got worse and I could no longer do my job ..I gave in and applied for PIP
In November I was awarded enhanced rate living but nothing for mobility - this award is until 2020
I have had neuropathy in hands and feet for at least 7 years ( or so I thought it was when I applied for PIP) as well as my hands being constantly painful from ticcing ....
Sometimes my feet or so bad I have to use a stick if I can put weight on my feet at all.
I made sure to put as much info about this as I could on my form but nevertheless I was given no award for mobility
After debating and reading information on here I decided to ask for mandatory reconsideration ... however this was unsuccessful
Since then I have been diagnosed with diverticulosis and also have been referred to rheumatologist after blood tests and X-rays show rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and feet( although my GP said they need a rheumatologist to give diagnosis)
I am now in constant pain when walking ...or using my hands ..even in simplest ways
My question is .... should I ask for an appeal? - or is there a time limit from the mandatory reconsideration decision ?
Or should I be holding off for official diagnosis from rheumatologist and contact the DWP to let them know a change of circumstances ?
What would be my best way forward to claim for mobility ..as my mobility is far worse than it was even when I wrote the MR letter
I’m unsure which is the best way forward for me
Please help
Any advice greatly received

First of all, can you reasonably score the 8 points needed for a Mobility award? If you are unsure then you should seriously consider whether to contact the DWP.

Secondly, although there has been a change of diagnosis, it's not clear from your post whether your conditions have worsened since the award was originally made.

If your limitations are roughly the same as they were when last assessed, then the new diagnosis may not be sufficient evidence to warrant a Mobility award, if you want to challenge the Decision then you need to request an MR.

If your problems are worse, then this change cannot be considered as part of an MR or appeal, so you would need to notify the DWP of a Change, but understand that this will result in a full reassessment of your claim, new PIP2 and almost certainly a face to face assessment, the Decision that will result from this will replace your existing award.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
I should have said that yes my condition has worsened
My mobility is definitely more affected than it was before
I was not awarded anything for mobility part of PIP and I should have said I thought I must not have explained myself properly about the pain and difficulty in everyday tasks such as dressing cooking etc ... at that time when I asked for MR .. I only had neurology diagnosis from many years ago as to what was causing it
However since I wrote letter and received a no change in reply
I have had he X-rays done and the blood tests .as well as colonoscopy
As a result of both these I now have a diagnosis of diverticulosis ( I had been thinking my issues were down to ibs and had put that on my initial form)
And my Gp is confident I have RA hence the referral to rheumatologist
Would I be better waiting until after official diagnosis from the rheumatologist before informing them my condition has changed ?

A formal diagnosis will help more and you need to have suffered from your new limitations for at least three months so it may make sense to wait a while.
